The smoke sauna is an ancient part of Estonian culture — a sacred place for cleansing the body and the soul. The revitalising effects of the sauna can be felt long after the session.
The smoke sauna at Jantsu Farm is built next to a pond on the edge of the forest. It has been carefully crafted by masters of the trade using massive aspen logs from Karula in Võrumaa. The stove is built from historic bricks brought from Kadrina in Virumaa, and the ceiling insulation contains 1.5 tonnes of light clay mixture from Mooste.
Before entering the sauna, guests are introduced to the history and traditions of Estonian saunas. A traditional smoke sauna session lasts 3–5 hours, depending on the participants. Up to 7 people can go to the sauna at a time.
For those who wish, we also offer a guided sauna ritual, introducing traditional customs and ceremonial practices, led by sauna master Silver.
At Jantsu Farm, you can also enjoy the tent sauna – a great choice for those seeking a quick and spontaneous sauna experience. It heats up in about an hour and still offers an authentic sauna feeling.
If you wish, you can combine both experiences – start with the light and quick tent sauna and continue with the deeply relaxing smoke sauna to fully appreciate the contrasts of Estonian sauna culture.
Price: The smoke sauna price depends on the number of guests – from €140 for 2 people.
The price includes: hot sauna, birch whisks, herbal tea, an ice hole in winter and a pond for swimming in summer.
Tent sauna heating €75, each additional hour €10.
